Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced R&D Chemist to support the development, improvement, and scale-up of adhesive products. This role plays a hands-on part in formulation, testing, and technical support across multiple product lines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable moving between lab work, documentation, and cross-functional problem-solving.
The scope of work includes solvent-based and water-based adhesives, hot melts, and rubber-based technologies applied through brush and spray methods across a variety of substrates.
Key Responsibilities
Formulation & Development
- Design, formulate, and document adhesive products from concept through scale-up
- Lead development efforts for assigned product lines
- Support batch scale-up and transition from lab to manufacturing
Product Support & Optimization
- Maintain and update existing formulations as needed
- Address customer questions, technical issues, and product complaints
- Support product certifications and documentation requirements
Testing & Quality Collaboration
- Apply appropriate performance testing, QC procedures, and application methods
- Partner with Quality Control teams to ensure product consistency and compliance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with project management to drive organized and efficient product development
- Provide technical support to manufacturing when required
- Present technical findings to internal business teams and collaborate with external suppliers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with:
- Adhesion and rubber-based chemistry
- Solvent-based chemical systems
- Adhesive formulation and development
- Strong understanding of laboratory documentation and development processes
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders
