Position Summary
The Channel Letter Fabricator is responsible for producing high-quality channel letter signage using the channel bender machine, wire stitcher, and various fabrication tools. This role ensures all letters and components are accurately formed, assembled, and prepared in accordance with engineered drawings, project specifications, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate ChannelBender SXP (or equivalent) to bend aluminum returns for channel letters with precision.
- Fabricate, notch, trim, and form return materials to match engineered specifications.
- Assemble channel letters including returns and backs.
- Use wire stitcher to securely fasten and assemble sign components as required.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, engineered drawings, work orders, and production packets.
- Verify measurements, materials, and design details before fabrication.
- Communicate discrepancies or missing information to the design team.
- Operate drills, rivet guns, shears, hand brakes, hand routers, and other fabrication tools.
- Prepare letters for face installation, painting, or final assembly.
- Inspect all fabricated components for accuracy, quality, and structural integrity.
- Follow all production and safety protocols, including PPE use and equipment operating and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Collaborate with production leaders and other team members to meet deadlines.
- Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, or material shortages promptly.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality and efficiency.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience fabricating channel letters or similar illuminated signage.(Preferred)
- Proficiency operating a Channel Bender and Stitcher.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of fabrication processes.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Experience operating hand brake, shears, welders, and other shop equipment.
