Job Description

Job Description Step into Second Shift Leadership

At Bingham & Taylor, a trusted industry name for more than 175 years, you will guide evening production at our Culpeper foundry. As the Foundry Operations Supervisor, you’ll take the handoff from day shift, secure the facility, align people and materials, and make sure everything is ready for a strong start the next morning. You’ll report to the Production Superintendent and coordinate associates, equipment, and workflows to meet safety, quality, and output goals.

Fluency in English is required for this position, as effective communication is essential for successful job performance.

A day in your role

The horn sounds and your team gathers for the daily cell meeting. You set clear expectations, review safety focus areas, and walk the line to confirm equipment, materials flow, and standardized work are in place. Hour by hour, you monitor production, clear bottlenecks, and coach associates through process improvements. You serve as the bridge between associates and management—interpreting job orders, aligning labor to the schedule, and ensuring Leader Standard Work is followed. Throughout the shift, you audit safety, quality, and scrap, initiate corrective actions, and prepare the floor for a seamless transition to day shift.

What you’ll tackle

  • Champion an injury-free workplace in compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct or delegate audits across key result areas (quality, safety, scrap) and act on findings.
  • Motivate the team and reinforce safety rules and best practices.
  • Anticipate production challenges, resolve issues at the root cause, and protect the schedule.
  • Serve as the point of connection between associates and management during change.
  • Develop and monitor standardized work; adhere to Leader Standard Work for your role.
  • Lead daily cell meetings; set priorities and communicate expectations.
  • Track progress hourly; remove constraints to hit shift goals.
  • Oversee continuous flow and materials delivery systems and drive ongoing improvement.
  • Coach and develop associates to expand skills and strengthen the bench.
  • Review schedules; estimate labor hours needed and allocate resources.
  • Interpret specifications and job orders; assign tasks clearly and effectively.
  • Recommend changes to improve production, equipment reliability, product quality, and working conditions.

What you bring

  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting (foundry experience preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and coach teams.
  • Root cause analysis capability and disciplined problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement tools (or willingness to learn quickly).
