Road Ranger, a growing multi-state Travel Center company, is seeking to add a HVACR Technician to its Repair & Maintenance Department in the Midwest North District!
Working under the supervision of the Director of Repair & Maintenance, the HVACR Technician will be primarily responsible for day-to-day preventative maintenance, equipment repair, refrigeration, and HVAC/R systems at the Company’s retail locations. Travel and overnight stays are required for this position. Valid Driver’s license is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs in the following areas. Some familiarity with associated manufacturers is preferred
- HVAC – Carrier, Lennox, Daikin, ICP, Captive Aire,
- Refrigeration – Heat Craft, True, Federal, Hussmann
- Plumbing – Minor Repairs
- Electrical - Siemens, Square D, Eaton
- Kitchen equipment – Frymaster, Turbo Chef, Lincoln, NuVu
- Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration units.
- Perform appliance repair on refrigerators and ice machines
- Performs routine preventative maintenance inspection and service on an annual cycle at all locations in assigned territory.
- Monitor work by outside vendors and verify work completed.
- Advise Store and QSR managers on a variety of technical engineering issues
- Build and weld components as needed
- Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems
- Travel to job sites in service area and work with dispatchers to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated
- Maintain good working order of company vehicle, equipment, and electronics
- Maintain stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle
- Document details of services and parts provided to store electronically through computer or iPad applications
- Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and be able to explain need for and value of recommended solutions
- Participate in company-provided training opportunities
- Work well independently and in a team environment
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years’ in-field experience with commercial HVAC and Refrigeration
- Knowledge of kitchen facilities and equipment is preferred
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams, as well as have a working knowledge of electrical systems
- Individuals with Convenience Store maintenance experience encouraged to apply
- EPA Universal 608 Refrigeration Certification is required
- Proven experience in equipment repair, particularly in refrigeration
- Mechanical knowledge for diagnosing and fixing issues
- Strong problem-solving skills for field service tasks
Other Qualifications:
- Must be available to work up to minimum 40 hours per week
- Be available for On-Call and weekends when needed
- Travel between store locations with occasional overnight stays.
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and to handle multiple competing tasks and demands simultaneously
- Must have excellent diagnostic capabilities
- Outstanding written and verbal skills

Pay Range: $27 to $30 per hour
