Job Title:
Pool Director
Location: Redmond / Kirkland, WA (100% in person required)
Job Summary:
The Pool Director is responsible for overseeing daily operations and management of the pool, including ensuring appropriate personnel coverage, safety, and providing high quality and welcoming customer service to all pool patrons.
Key Responsibilities:
Pool Operations:
- Enforce compliance with pool rules and regulations
- Monitor pool water chemistry through testing and ensure accurate recording of chemical checks
- Oversee daily maintenance tasks to uphold cleanliness and safety standards, assign additional projects as warranted
- Complete and file required reports, including incident reports
- Conduct monthly inventory and report facility needs to the Aquatics Director
- Fulfill the role of Deck Manager as needed
- Activate Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and provide necessary emergency care
Maintenance Assistance
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Director to assist in performing regular maintenance at Redmond/Juanita facilities, including:
- Maintaining appropriate water levels and temperature
- Backwashing and bumping filters
- Cleaning and repairing chlorine and acid hoppers
- Monitoring alkalinity, calcium hardness, CYA levels, phosphates, and other chemical levels
- Cleaning gutter screens/skimmers
- Servicing UV lamps
- Serve as on-call Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) (as needed) or coordinate with an alternate AFO when unavailable
Customer Service
- Providing excellent customer service to all pool patrons
- Providing excellent communication and customer service to key stakeholders the City of Redmond staff and the Lake Washington School District staff
- Ensure prompt response to voicemails and messages
- Address inquiries and concerns related to pool operations and programs
- Issue credits/refunds for Juanita/Redmond billing as needed; update credit card, account, and billing information as needed
Supervision, Training and Scheduling
- Supervision of headguards at facility
- Regular 1:1 meetings
with headguards
- Quarterly 1:1 review with headguards and document in BambooHR
- Complete annual headguard evaluations and document in BambooHR
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and ensure they achieve their goals
- Communication
and documentation of personnel issues
- Manage staff time off requests
- Create staff schedule, ensuring sufficient daily coverage
- Conduct orientation and training for new employees, including:
- Facility orientation
- Scheduling procedures and availability
- Policies and procedures
- Emergency Action Plans
- Communicate any scheduling issues or conflicts with the Aquatics Director
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director
- Assist the Safety and Training Director with in-service training across facilities as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to supervise, instruct, and delegate
to subordinate personnel
- Certified in CPR, First Aid, AED, and lifeguarding
(or ability to
obtain within 90 days of hire date)
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships with staff, participants, and the public
- Capable of responding calmly and effectively in emergencies
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR Certification (or willingness obtain certification within 90 days of hire date)
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly Pay: $28 - $32 DOE
