Principal – Environmental Planning

💼 Full-time | Senior Leadership Opportunity


A nationally recognized environmental and infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Principal Environmental Planning to lead major CEQA/NEPA projects, mentor staff, and drive business development across the Los Angeles region.


This position offers the chance to play a key leadership role in expanding an established planning practice, with strong support from regional and national technical teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the preparation and oversight of EIRs, EAs, IS/MNDs, and related CEQA/NEPA documentation.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and ensure technical excellence, schedule, and budget adherence.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with Los Angeles-area public agencies, municipalities, and private clients.
  • Mentor and develop a small team of environmental professionals.
  • Support marketing efforts, proposal development, and strategic growth initiatives throughout Southern California.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Planning, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive environmental planning experience.
  • Proven experience delivering CEQA/NEPA projects and managing project teams.
  • Strong understanding of Los Angeles market dynamics and agency relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work remotely with periodic in-person meetings in Los Angeles or Long Beach.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $185,000 – $240,000, commensurate with experience.
