A nationally recognized environmental and infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Principal Environmental Planning to lead major CEQA/NEPA projects, mentor staff, and drive business development across the Los Angeles region.
This position offers the chance to play a key leadership role in expanding an established planning practice, with strong support from regional and national technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the preparation and oversight of EIRs, EAs, IS/MNDs, and related CEQA/NEPA documentation.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and ensure technical excellence, schedule, and budget adherence.
- Build and strengthen relationships with Los Angeles-area public agencies, municipalities, and private clients.
- Mentor and develop a small team of environmental professionals.
- Support marketing efforts, proposal development, and strategic growth initiatives throughout Southern California.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Planning, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive environmental planning experience.
- Proven experience delivering CEQA/NEPA projects and managing project teams.
- Strong understanding of Los Angeles market dynamics and agency relationships.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to work remotely with periodic in-person meetings in Los Angeles or Long Beach.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range: $185,000 – $240,000, commensurate with experience.
