Position Overview:
The Load planner must be detail-oriented and organized to coordinate freight movements, schedule delivery and pickup appointments, and optimize transportation cost and routes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth and timely flow of goods while maximizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule inbound and outbound loads to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Communicate with carriers, drivers, warehouse personnel, and customers to coordinate load details.
- Coordinate load assignments. Optimize routing and truck loading for efficiency, cost reduction, and on-time performance. Manage MABD performance to 100%
- Use Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or scheduling software to manage appointments and track shipments.
- Monitor load status and resolve scheduling conflicts or delays in real-time.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, carrier guidelines, and DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of appointments, load plans, and documentation.
- Communicate changes in schedule to relevant stakeholders promptly.
- Collaborate with logistics, customer service, and warehouse teams to streamline operations.
- Generate reports and provide data for KPI tracking and performance improvement.
- Handle all administrative paperwork. Approve or deny detention, lumper fees, confirm over and shorts to loads
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in load planning, dispatching, or transportation scheduling.
- Proficient with TMS platforms, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office 365 and logistics scheduling tools.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of both asset companies and broker business including regulations and transportation industry best practices is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a warehouse, logistics, or trucking environment.
- Familiarity with EDI systems NetSuite Oracle, or similar enterprise platforms.
Working Conditions:
· Ability to manage remote work
· Office setting with occasional presence in the warehouse or dock areas.
· May require flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on shipment schedules.
