Recreation Leader II – Adult & Community Education
Town of Brookline – Recreation Department
Hourly Rate: $33.54 – $35.23 | 40 hours per week | Excellent Benefits
The Town of Brookline Recreation Department is seeking a Recreation Leader II to coordinate and support the Town's Adult & Community Education classes. This position focuses on scheduling, instructor support, program logistics, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of adult and community education offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule adult and community education courses, workshops, and programs.
- Recruit, hire, and assist instructors with onboarding, classroom needs, and program delivery.
- Supervise on-site programs during after-school hours, evenings, vacation weeks, and summer sessions.
- Monitor enrollment, manage cancellations, track budgets, process billing, and provide updates to instructors and participants.
- Prepare and distribute program materials and supplies.
- Develop basic promotional content for flyers, website, and social media.
- Coordinate classroom and facility use across Recreation facilities, schools, and other sites.
- Collect program data and feedback to support evaluation and improvement.
- Provide assistance with other Recreation Department programs and events as needed.
- Performs all other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Recreation Management, Leisure Services, or related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in program coordination, adult education, or community programming.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License (Class D).
- CPR and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with instructors, participants, and community partners.
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and school vacation weeks.
