About the Role:
The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting pharmacists to ensure the accurate and efficient dispensing of medications in both hospital and retail pharmacy settings. This position involves managing prescription orders, preparing and labeling medications, and maintaining sterile environments to guarantee patient safety. The Pharmacy Technician acts as a vital link between patients, pharmacists, and healthcare providers by facilitating clear communication and timely processing of prescriptions. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or equivalent experience.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) where required by law.
- Demonstrated experience with order entry and prescription filling in a pharmacy setting.
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and sterile techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in both hospital and retail pharmacy environments.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management software and electronic health records.
- Additional certifications related to sterile compounding or medication safety.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Previous experience handling fax machines and other office equipment in a medical setting.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately enter prescription orders into the pharmacy system and verify patient information.
- Fill and label prescriptions according to established protocols and pharmacist instructions.
- Operate and maintain fax machines and other communication tools to coordinate with healthcare providers.
- Perform sterilization procedures and maintain sterility in medication preparation areas to prevent contamination.
- Assist pharmacists in inventory management, including ordering and stocking medications and supplies.
- Provide courteous and respectful service to patients and healthcare staff, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
- Adhere to all safety, health, and regulatory guidelines within the pharmacy environment.
