Job Description
Instrumentation & Control Technician (3–5 years’ experience required)
Responsibilities
-
Perform rebuilds, repairs, removal, and installation on electrical systems, PLC equipment, automation systems, switchgear cabinets, circuit breakers, controllers, encoders, fuses, sensors, load cells, motors, switches, 3‑phase motors, transducers, transformers, and related components.

Conduct electrical testing and calibration.

Carry out routine preventative maintenance.

Follow all safety policies and procedures.
-
Ensure correct and safe operation of equipment.
-
Identify faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics.
-
Determine when immediate maintenance action is required and respond appropriately.
-
Participate in daily meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime.
-
Safely operate power tools, hoists, and hand tools.
-
Assess the condition of used parts.
-
Maintain parts and tools inventory.
-
Prepare maintenance reports as required.
-
Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and orderly.
-
Coordinate with vendors and outside service providers.
-
Maintain good housekeeping conditions in all working areas.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Willingness to work in a heavy industrial environment that may be hot, cold, wet, dusty, and physically demanding; must be able to hear and see warning horns and other hazards.

High school diploma or GED.
-
Background as an industrial electrician.
-
Proficiency with electrical installation tools, hand tools, power tools, hoists, and industrial equipment.

Advanced knowledge of:
-
AC motors and VFD systems
-
Power distribution and motor control systems (transformers, contactors, breakers, motors, encoders)
-
Instrumentation systems (sensors and instruments)
-

Proficiency with HMI systems.
-
Understanding of PLC systems.
-
Ability to identify colored wiring by sight.
-
Basic computer skills.
-
Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
-
Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions.
-
Positive, collaborative attitude; able to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required, with availability to respond to call‑outs when needed.

Working Conditions

Plant and surface mining environment with periodic visits to office areas

Exposure to various elements, though none to a disagreeable extent; noise level is typically moderate

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation

Flexibility to work overtime and variable shifts as required
