As a Shop Technician 1 in the Electrical Test area, you will execute the testing and verification of various Low and Medium Voltage switchgear, associated subcomponents and cell related items.

You will perform a broad range of electrical and mechanical tests using various types of test equipment including but not limited to AC Dielectric testers, AC/DC power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, current sources and electronic loads. You may perform both electrical wiring or assembly and mechanical assembly; follow standard procedures and communicate information that requires little explanation or interpretation. You will work under general direction with close supervision in which specific instructions are provided on all new assignments. Initial assignments are in a "training status” and all work is to be checked for quality and accuracy. Independent decision-making ability will increase as experience is gained.

You will report to the Assistant Area Manager, Mechanical Product, and will be based out of our New Stanton, PA facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to comprehend basic mechanical and/or electrical drawings, codes, schematics, manuals, blueprints and procedures, and record data in the required form.

  • Ability/knowledge of electrical equipment and/or painting methods, hand and power tool usage.

  • Apply knowledge of basic electro-mechanical theory and components to test/verify subcomponents, cell configurations, point to point wire verification and various subassemblies.

  • Follow directions to configure equipment and associated wiring to test low voltage and medium voltage breakers per engineering documents for refurbishments and new builds.

  • Install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings, using rivets, bolts, or connectors.

  • Ability to Operate electrical/electronic test equipment.

  • Plan, lay out, assemble or fabricate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 0-2 years relevant experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining or inspection skills.

  • Specific knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawings, assembly, and wiring.

  • Nuclear industry experience preferred
