Part-Time | Independent Contractor

As a Lead HVAC Install Tech (1099 Contractor), you’ll run high-quality residential system installs with confidence, craftsmanship, and the autonomy to lead your jobs start to finish.

What You’ll Be Doing

· Lead or assist in residential HVAC retrofit installations (furnaces, ACs, heat pumps, etc.)

· Solve install-related issues with professionalism and minimal oversight

· Collaborate with team leads, apprentices, and office staff as needed

· Maintain clean, efficient job sites and accurate documentation

· Communicate clearly with homeowners and uphold Northwind’s reputation for quality

Schedule

• Flexible, contractor-managed schedule
• Typical workload: Monday–Friday, 7 AM–5 PM
• Weekends available but not required

Compensation & Support

· Flat rate pay: based on experience and job scope

· Consistent install volume — keep your pipeline full

· Uniforms provided

· Access to installation tools and equipment

· Flexible scheduling

Requirements

· 3-5+ years of residential HVAC install experience (1+ year as a lead preferred)

· EPA Certification (required)

· Highly proficient in brazing and refrigerant cycle

· Electrical competency and safe work practices

· Reliable transportation

· Must own essential tools (gauges, hand tools, multimeter)

· Clean driving record and valid driver’s license

Physical Expectations

· Frequently lift/move 50+ lbs; occasionally up to 150 lbs with assistance

· Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and confined areas

· Ability to kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks

· Adaptable to indoor/outdoor environments and variable temperatures
