Job Summary:
This position reports to the Director of Mission Services within the scope of the mission, guiding principles, values, ethics and strategic goals of Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. The Recreation Leisure Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing leisure service activities. This position is also responsible for documenting attendance records, transportation and billing documentation to assure positive outcomes and goal achievement for persons supported. Assist in training other Mission Services staff to assist and facilitate established leisure programs. Compiles, records, and reviews leisure evaluations. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers by way of communication and assistance and by way of quality of work.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing leisure service activities.
- Actively seeks new recreational programs and events and oversees their implementation.
- Plans, coordinates and facilitates in-house leisure activities, including attendance records, transportation and billing documentation to assure positive outcomes and goal achievement for persons supported.
- Plans, coordinates and facilitates community-based leisure activities on a daily basis.
- Processes registrations and attendance records, and supervises leisure activities to assure positive outcomes and goal achievement for persons served.
- Coordinates and provides transportation services.
- Assists in training other Mission Services staff to assist and facilitate established leisure programs.
- Assists with the orientation, training, and scheduling of employee, volunteers and interns for leisure service activities.
- Assists in evaluating the agency’s leisure services programs.
- Compiles, records, and reviews leisure evaluations.
- Represents Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. to internal and external stakeholders, persons served, and the community in a professional manner.
- Report Incidents and other safety issues to the supervisor.
- Assist with other support positions to develop and facilitate health needs and goals.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Leisure Studies, or a closely related field, required.
- A minimum of 2 years of related full-time paid experience. A minimum of 1-year experience in recreational activities involving instruction/supervision responsibilities, preferred.
- The ability to utilize standard office, home, and recreational equipment on a daily basis.
- Ability to carry, lift, push, or pull up to sixty (60) pounds.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adjust to unexpected or different situations.
- Computer proficiency.
- Reliable cellphone.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
- Possess a positive attitude and infect others with similar enthusiasm.
- Loyalty to the agency and its mission and policies.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance, required.
