Job Description
Fenagh Engineering and Testing is looking to hire an ICC/ACI Inspector to work out of our Austin, TX office.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections and testing in accordance with ICC, ACI, ASTM, IBC, ACI 318, AWS, TxDOT, and project-specific specifications.
- Conduct field inspections for concrete, masonry, rebar, structural steel, fireproofing (SFRM/Intumescent), post-tensioning, soils/earthwork, and general construction materials.
- Perform testing activities including concrete sampling, slump, air, temperature, unit weight, cylinder making, nuclear density testing, and other ASTM procedures.
- Verify contractor work for compliance with approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and UL designs.
- Document all field observations in clear, detailed, and timely daily reports using Fenagh's reporting systems.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, superintendents, project managers, and engineers regarding deficiencies, corrections, and inspection results.
- Identify any non-conforming work, issue written notices when required, and verify corrective actions.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, details, RFIs, and submittals applicable to inspection scopes.
- Maintain proper sample custody, labeling, chain-of-custody, and traffic of all materials returned to the laboratory.
- Ensure all work is performed following Fenagh’s safety protocols, including PPE, fall protection, confined space, heat illness, and nuclear gauge safety.
- Operate and maintain testing equipment (nuclear gauge, concrete field equipment, SFRM tools, etc.) in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
- Attend project coordination meetings when necessary and represent Fenagh in a professional manner on active job sites.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior inspectors when assigned.
- Maintain current required certifications (ACI, ICC, TxDOT, NICET, AWS, OSHA 10/30, etc.) and notify management prior to expiration.
