Mechatronics Technician

The Mechatronics Technician provides hands-on support to the engineering team for prototype builds, electrical rework, harness assembly, 3D printing, and demo setup. This role plays a critical part in enabling fast iteration, effective hardware validation, and seamless physical integration for electromechanical systems including HOD prototypes, seatbelt electronics, and vehicle-level safety demonstrations.

We are looking for an entry level candidate who wants to learn and grow their skills and knowledge while working towards a bachelor's degree to move into a role as an Engineer upon graduation.

What you’ll do:

  • Build, modify, and repair development harnesses and cable assemblies for validation or customer mockups.
  • Perform basic soldering, PCB rework, and connector terminations based on engineer-provided specs.
  • Operate and maintain 3D printers, post-process printed components, and support design fit evaluations.
  • Set up and maintain demo benches, vehicle-level systems, and functional displays for reviews and quoting support.
  • Assist in prototype assembly, including mechanical installations and functional electrical checks.
  • Maintain tooling, supplies, and safe working conditions in labs and test areas.
  • Document rework procedures and assist in tracking iteration history for prototypes and builds.
  • Coordinate with engineers to ensure timely execution of validation tasks or pre-launch support needs.
  • Build, support, audit, and test machines or portable test equipment

What is required:

  • Minimum of an associate degree or certificate in Electronics, Mechatronics, or related technical field or currently enrolled in bachelor's degree program.
  • Fundamental understanding of basic electrical theory (i.e ohms law, etc.)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a prototype lab, R&D, or product development environment.
  • Strong skills in soldering, crimping, wiring, and mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing systems, shop tools, and lab safety practices.
  • Able to interpret basic electrical drawings, pinouts, and mechanical prints.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to support a fast-paced engineering team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially in failure mode analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Experience supporting automotive electronics, sensors, or prototype vehicle builds.
  • Experience with automotive communication protocols (i.e. LIN/CAN) and relevant tools (i.e. Vector and Intrepid Control Systems).
  • Ability to plan and work independently on physical integration and iterative rework tasks while meeting timelines.
  • Organized and proactive in identifying build risks or rework gaps early.
  • Comfortable collaborating closely with engineers, test teams, and external shops.
  • Understanding of technical drawings, problem solving skills
  • Availability to work on site

What’s in it for you:

•Attractive compensation package

•Recognition awards, company events, family events, university discount options and many more perks.
