Contract Duration: Through July 2026 (minimum)
Compensation: $24-$30 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Fully On-site (standard business hours) M-F 8am to 5pm
Job Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for planning and preparing production materials, travelers, and work orders. This role monitors material availability, supports master scheduling activities, and identifies any potential risks to production timelines or delivery commitments. This is a contract role offering stability through at least July 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review material availability in the ERP/MRP system daily to plan and support production releases against the master production schedule (MPS).
- Review requirements for the 12-week production master schedule and evaluate current forecasts for corresponding items.
- Plan, prepare, issue, and control production orders and material requirements to ensure timely and accurate flow of approved materials to production.
- Review shortages in backlogs and proactively alert management when on-time delivery may be at risk.
- Confirm and release work orders, including verifying material availability and reissuing materials due to unexpected yield variances.
- Prepare and issue production documentation; revise and reschedule shop orders in LN as needed.
- Partner daily with the Production Supervisor to monitor work order status and scheduling to maintain on-time delivery performance.
- Coordinate with production teams regarding schedule changes or material updates.
- Direct or provide guidance to expeditors on products requiring urgent shipment or follow-up.
- Review procured items and initiate expedite requests to Purchasing when material is urgently needed.
- Coordinate subcontracted orders and prepare all necessary documentation.
- Request physical counts of raw material and WIP; identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure timely review of failed products from Incoming or Production Inspection and address planning-related issues.
- Partner with Material Handlers, Production staff, and Buyers to resolve material availability issues as they occur.
- Work with the warehouse to expedite release of materials to the production floor.
- Take action on requests resulting from MRB findings and squawks.
- Support Development Planning efforts related to new Engineering Drawings or Design Changes.
- Enter and maintain data within various systems and prepare reports for production planning activities or customer reviews.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in production planning (required).
- Ability to acquire basic skills and perform routine tasks accurately.
- Work performed with close supervision and under clearly defined procedures.
Education
- College degree preferred (Supply Chain Management or related field), or equivalent experience.
Pay Details: $24.00 to $30.00 per hour
