Job Description

· Leads the accounting operations of the company, including cash, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and tax prep.

General Accountabilities

· Prepares daily cash deposits, monitors daily credit card deposits for accuracy. Monitors daily ATM operation and replenishes cash.

· Enters invoices including vendor setup, inventory, payment terms and payment date. Prepares accounts payable ensuring all payments are delivered just before due date.

· Leads accounting correspondence with vendors and customers. Analyzes receivables and payables for necessary action and maintains organized files. Negotiates extended payment terms where possible.

· Sets up and maintains the Chart of Accounts and General Ledger in an efficient and simple manner, coordinating priorities with the owner.

· Completes account reconciliation, produces summary reports and financial statements including the P&L and Balance Sheet. Provides explanation and detail for outlier areas vs. budget and last year.

· Assists in the development of financial projections and budgets.

· Ensures all accounting transactions are accurate, timely, and have proper supporting documentation.

· Ensures compliance with company best practices, government regulations and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

· Documents procedures, coaches and cross trains where necessary to support the timely and accurate completion of accounting activities.

· Assists store manager in management of timekeeping, acts as the backup to owner for biweekly payroll processing and assists in physical inventory and reconciliation.

· Acts as the primary contact with accountant for tax preparation, sharing necessary detail, answering questions, and processing year-end entries.

· Evaluates, discovers, and completes other duties as found or assigned, including working in the store when necessary (cashiering, stocking, etc).

Job Qualifications - Manager of Accounting & Financial Operations

· Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar.

· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license / experience definitely a plus.

· Experience: 2+ years of related small business accounting experience.

Required Skills - Manager of Accounting & Financial Operations

· Positive attitude, excellent verbal and written communication. Strong work ethic, active listening, critical thinking including problem solving and decision making. Enjoys helping others and being part of a team.

· Accounting software, spreadsheet / word processing knowledge (Excel/Word and/or Sheets/Docs), previous retail and/or grocery experience also a plus.
