The Electrical Designer is responsible for creating and revising electrical drawings and associated documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs). This role supports engineering, production, and customer approval processes to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient design output.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop electrical drawings—including schematics, wiring diagrams, and connection diagrams—according to project specifications.
- Release approved drawings and bills of materials to production in accordance with company procedures.
- Revise and resubmit drawing packages based on customer comments or engineering updates.
- Provide support to production teams during assembly and wiring stages, ensuring all design intent is understood and executed correctly.
- Create and maintain accurate electrical bills of materials, ensuring all information is properly logged in the manufacturing database
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Perform all duties assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management.
- Understand and execute company goals and objectives while contributing positively to team collaboration and project success.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in Electrical Technology or a minimum of 4 years of medium-voltage experience.
Experience
- Medium-voltage design experience (5 kV to 38 kV).
- Power distribution design experience.
- Experience designing enclosures and electrical cabinets.
- Electrical drafting/design experience.
Specialized Knowledge
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Familiarity with Utility Electrical Service Requirements (ESR).
- Knowledge of ANSI, UL standards, California Title 24, and State Seal processes
