In this Lead role you will execute specific production activities for our Manufacturing. Ensuring daily schedule is met, KPI are achieved or exceeded and that the team is in full compliance with safety and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Promotes a safety work culture by reinforcing all safety policies and practices
- Reinforces LTF safety program guidelines and executes/facilitates assigned training activities
- Encourages team alignment with safety culture by making safety a key principle in all team discussions
- Achieves and/or surpasses all quality and food safety standards and specifications
- Develops complete understanding of all critical quality standards and executes daily production schedule with a keen focus on quality and food safety
- Monitors product and process to assure compliance with all standards and specifications
- Promotes good quality practices, aligns to and educates on all quality-related SOPs and GMPs; actively participates in and reinforces all training exercise
- Manages daily production orders to achieve schedule adherence and efficiency targets
- Reviews daily production schedules and confers with Team Lead regarding staffing and key operational considerations
- Confirms that equipment and machinery are properly set up and prepared to function prior to start-up (including Labeler, Ray, Case Sealer/Dater), verifying dates
- Monitors and controls run rate to ensure schedule adherence and efficiency standards.
- Works with team to set-up machinery and production/packaging lines in accordance with production schedule and designated batch sheets
- Organizes team and job assignments, including scheduling team rotation for lunches and breaks
- Performs routine monitoring and testing on product, including visual inspection of code dates fills, weight checks, X-ray CCP, etc., and enters all data into RedZone or designated documentation as required in an accurate and timely manner
- Assures that finished goods are correctly reported through Data Collection job closures, raw/packing material are available and WIP is properly handled and labeled in conjunction with Warehouse associates
- Communicates as appropriate to ensure all important information regarding daily production schedule, operational changes, culture, process, events, is passed to production and cross-functional teams (sanitation, QA, Prep, etc.)
- Acts as advocate for all LTF programs, policies and process improvements
- Embraces change and all cultural values
- Ensures relevant communication occurs between shifts, operational teams and cross-functional teams
- Trains incoming production workers in techniques, processes, policies, etc. · Engages in all relevant training, understand that the Lead acts as a key provider of insight and knowledge regarding operational knowledge, Safety and Food Safety knowledge, GMPs, and Quality standards · Encourages development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills to optimize efficiency 6 – Maintains work areas aligned with lean (5-S) principles · Embraces lean principles and training and applies these principles to work environment and team management · Participates in all 5-S events to communicate cultural alignment from top-down to 5-S and lean activities 7 – Performs other duties as assigned
Background Requirements
- High school or GED is required. A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a food production facility is
- required.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience is helpful.
- A commensurate amount of education and experience may substitute.
- Must be able to work independently while applying safety, GMP and quality
- principles.
- Must have the ability to develop in-depth technical and mechanical knowledge of machinery,
- equipment and line operations.
- Critical thinking skills are required, as daily challenges in operational
- efficiency and production scheduling occur – must have strong problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and
- make adjustments that drive efficiency.
- Must be comfortable with computers to effectively capture
- relevant data, critical operational notes, etc. in systems.
- Must be able to communicate effectively to
- provide instruction and direction, to explain how things work, the importance of procedures and to create
- cultural alignment.
- Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is required.
- Must have great attention to detail,
- be reliable and proactive.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
- Work conditions vary, working time will vary based upon work / project needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 5 to 90 F degrees in processing departments.
- Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 35 lbs. to stand for long periods of time· Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal, analyze reports, manage data and detail
