DIRECT HIRE POSITIONPay: $22/hourly
The Rollforming & Stamping - Machine Operator is responsible for profiling (cutting and shaping) and welding steel beams using automated production lines. This role ensures dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and adherence to safety and production standards.
* Note: This position requires periodic travel to Europe (approximately 6 weeks on and off until the beginning of the new year) for training.
Responsibilities:Production Operations
- Profile (cut and shape) steel beams according to precise specifications.
- Operate and monitor automated roll forming and welding lines.
- Set up and adjust machines for different profiles, lengths, and production types.
- Perform manual welding repairs as needed.
- Manage coil changes, typically one per hour on average.
- Perform approximately 1-5 length changes per team and 1 profile change every three teams.
- Adapt robot welding positions (with supervisor approval).
Quality Control
- Perform hourly quality inspections:
- Two stringers on the control station (four for Beamline 4)
- Check weld quality (6 welds + intermediate points), "a" value, torsion, and profile height.
- Verify hook type and X-value
- Quarantine defective production and notify supervisor immediately.
- Ensure all welds meet EN 1090 Execution Class C standards.
- Record quality and performance data in the ERP/software system.
Equipment & Tools
- Production: Roll forming line, robotic welding line, nibbler, flying shears, automatic control systems.
- Quality: Measuring bench, slide gauge, automatic weld control camera, hook control camera.
- Maintenance Tools: Wrenches, pliers, welding torch parts, spare contact tips, gas nozzles, etc.
- PPE: Safety shoes, gloves, earplugs, cap, safety glasses, and welding helmet.
- IT Tools: ERP system and production software (for orders, quality, and performance tracking).
Maintenance & Technical Support
- Perform Level 1 maintenance and assist maintenance teams during repairs.
- Replace welding components (contact tips, nozzles, sheaths, welding wires).
- Conduct TCP control and general upkeep of welding robots.
- Support troubleshooting by describing problems and helping with basic mechanical adjustments.
5S and Safety
- Follow all safety protocols and wear proper PPE (safety shoes, gloves, earplugs, cap, glasses, welding helmet).
- Maintain order and cleanliness at the workstation.
- Participate in bi-weekly area cleaning and perform 5S audits.
- Manage and minimize waste through proper sorting and handling.
Documentation & Systems
- Use ERP for production orders and quality reporting.
- Follow established procedures and access documents via SharePoint.
- Encode quality control and throughout data into the designated software.
- Communicate with downstream processes (e.g, notify painter of color expectations).

- Strong attention to safety, quality, and precision
Qualifications
- Experience in metal fabrication, welding, or automated production lines preferred
- Knowledge of robotic welding processes
- Ability to perform quality control inspections accurately
- Physical ability to handle coils and work in an industrial environment
