SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Research Technician Position is responsible for supporting R&D initiatives for the development of propriety solutions resulting in high-performance products and platform technologies. This key role offers the opportunity to work hands-on in material synthesis, advanced characterization, and performance testing, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists driving transformational innovations across the catalysis industry.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols while performing hands-on laboratory work
  • Synthesize novel carrier and catalyst materials for targeted applications, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reproducibility with minimal supervision
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment for material synthesis, characterization, and performance testing using advanced synthesis and analytical techniques
  • Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional teams to validate and optimize material performance, contributing to timely project execution
  • Record experimental procedures, results, and technical insights; maintain organized lab records and inventory with precision
  • Draft and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed
  • Support the scale-up and pilot production of promising materials, bridging lab innovation with real-world application
  • Assist with the safe handling of large or heavy lab items when necessary
  • Maintain a clean, efficient, and well-organized workspace to promote operational excellence

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of research laboratory experience, with industrial experience considered a strong asset
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator when required

Preferred Skills and experience

  • Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting experimental challenges
  • Good understanding of chemistry principles relevant to materials science and catalysis
  • Proficiency in diverse laboratory techniques for materials synthesis and surface characterization
  • Self-driven and detail-oriented, with strong work ethics and genuine enthusiasm for hands-on laboratory work, committed to the safe and efficient execution of lab tasks
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within dynamic research teams
  • Effective multitasking and inventory management skills in laboratory environments
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Salary Range (Hourly)
$30-$35.00 Per Hour
