JOB TITLE: Quality Control Manager
REPORTS TO: President
PAY TYPE: Dependent on Experience
SUMMARY:
- Implementation of the quality systems that ensure parts made by Puch Manufacturing meet the quality requirements of its customers.
- Lead the Quality Department inspectors.
- Manage the Quality Management System to maintain Puch Manufacturing AS9100D certification.
- Communicates with Customers on quality and other issues to ensure that effective steps are taken to measure and improve customer satisfaction.
- Serve as principal contact for Quality Audits, surveys, and Corrective Actions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
- Work with Management to develop specific and measurable goals, improvements and standards to continuously and consistently improve quality and reduce errors.
- Read and fully understand engineered blueprints utilizing GD&T to understand dimensional requirements, material, surface finish, etc of the part.Act on behalf of the customer to audit and maintain the accuracy and timely delivery of products.
- Ensures that First Article Inspections, (FAI’s), are performed in a timely manner and that In-Process Inspections are done at all workstations on a routine daily basis.
- Maintain AS9100D and ISO 9001 Quality Management System certifications and compliance.
- Perform all internal audits as required by AS9100D.
- Generate Non-Conforming Reports, (NCR’s), to notify employees of production errors. Identify Root Cause, Preventive Action and implement corrective action and subsequent training.
- Measures dimensions, such as length, height, depth, diameter and angles using standard and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, height gage, bore gages, profilometer.
- Disposition finished goods that have been identified for possible non-conformances.
- Develop in production part and first/last piece part inspection processes with the goal to reduce scrap rates.
- Understands how to operate a Zeiss CMM; including setting up a fixture for a part to be inspected, how to load parts in fixture and able to understand the inspection results. (It is preferred to have experience in programing a Zeiss CMM utilizing Calypso software).
- Maintain the calibration and traceability of gages and other inspection equipment.
- Assist employees with the interpretation of blueprints and the analysis of parts accordingly.
- Work with the Production Manager in planning to meet production goals and customer delivery deadlines.
- Train new employees on the efficient and proper use of inspection tools and machines, including but not limited to, calipers, gauges, micrometers, and comparators and guide them through the inspection process.
- Respond and complete Corrective Action Reports to determine root cause, preventative actions, and documentation for improvement of the quality system. Maintain the CAR log.
- Serve as a "help desk" to all shop employees.
- Serve as a "Goodwill Ambassador" to staff and customers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a related field, or ASQ Certification, or equivalent experience.
- Expert knowledge of AS9100D and ISO9001.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control practices.
- 5 Years Quality experience in a precision machining environment.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
- A firm knowledge of manual inspection techniques
- Must be able to identify and report nonconforming material
- Must understand traceability (product, material and calibration).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis
