Project Manager – Structural & Steel Fabrication

Location: Norwalk, CT


Engtal is partnering with a leading heavy civil contractor known for delivering complex transportation and infrastructure projects across the region. The organization self-performs major structural scopes—including steel fabrication and erection—giving their teams strong control over quality, schedule, and safety.


We are seeking a Project Manager to lead structural and steel fabrication efforts on large-scale civil projects in the Norwalk area. This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in steel fabrication, structural systems, and field erection who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage steel fabrication and erection from design coordination through shop drawings, fabrication, delivery, and installation.
  • Coordinate closely with fabricators, erectors, inspectors, and internal field teams.
  • Oversee schedules, budgets, procurement, and change management for structural scopes.
  • Review shop drawings, welding procedures, and inspection reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards for steel erection, rigging, and high-hazard structural activities.
  • Support development of erection plans, sequencing, and structural means & methods.


Qualifications:

  • 5–7+ years in structural construction, steel fabrication, or steel erection.
  • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes and structural systems.
  • Experience managing technical scopes on heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to coordinate with fabrication shops, erectors, engineers, and inspectors.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
