Position Summary:
The Urgent Care is currently seeking a qualified and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our clinical team. This position requires flexibility and a willingness to travel between our clinic locations across the Greater New Orleans area.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and motivated provider with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, walk-in clinic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care, including assessments, physical exams, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including x-rays, EKGs, and laboratory studies
- Perform common urgent care procedures such as laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, and wound care
- Prescribe appropriate medications and develop treatment plans consistent with current medical guidelines
- Accurately document all patient encounters and maintain timely electronic medical records
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
- Collaborate with supervising physicians and clinic teams to ensure continuity of care
- Rotate between multiple clinic locations as assigned
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Louisiana licensure as a PA or NP
- Certification by NCCPA (for PAs), or certification by ANCC or AANP (for NPs FNP required)
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or primary care (three years preferred)
- Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Current DOT Certification (FMCSA Medical Examiner Certification) is a plus
- Active DEA registration and state prescriptive authority (or ability to obtain)
- Proficiency in minor procedures and interpreting diagnostic test results
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and patient engagement skills
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
- Ability and willingness to commute to all The Urgent Care clinic locations as needed
Preferred Competencies:
- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and standard billing/coding practices
- Familiarity with EMR systems and digital documentation workflows
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative clinical environment
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
