Job Description
As a Quality Control Chemist, you will play a crucial role in analyzing raw materials, intermediates, and finished products through routine and non-routine analysis using advanced techniques such as GC and HPLC. You will prepare samples, standards, and reagents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using GC and HPLC.
- Prepare samples, standards, and reagents according to established procedures.
- Interpret and document analytical results accurately and timely.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in method development and validation as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production and R&D.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Participate in investigations of out-of-specification results and deviations.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and material handling.
- Experience with quality assurance, inventory control, and sampling.
- Basic QC testing and quality control skills.
- Knowledge of chemistry, UV/Vis, gas chromatography, refractive index, specific gravity, total alcohol, total aldehyde, acid values.
- Hands-on experience with GC and HPLC instrumentation and software (e.g., Agilent, Waters).
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and GMP practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- AA degree in a science field or BS degree in Chemistry (Preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to learn unique processes.
- Previous experience in a GMP food and beverage environment is a plus.
- 2 years of experience in a QC laboratory setting, preferably in the flavor, food, or pharmaceutical industry.
Work Environment
You will work alongside other chemists and flavorists in a lab setting, occasionally visiting the production floor as needed. The environment encourages collaboration and requires a strong understanding of GMP processes. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abingdon, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
