CONTRACT TERM1 year with high likelihood of extension or conversion to full time employee.POSITION OVERVIEW – Mechanical Design Engineer IV (HGP) In support of our fleet of gas turbines, the hot gas path (HGP) engineer will be responsible for building 2D and 3D finite element models of turbine components; running thermal, structural, modal or forced response analysis with thermal and mechanical loads followed by lifing (LCF, HCF, creep, oxidation, fracture mechanics), postprocessing of modal results (frequency/Campbell diagram creation); and presenting in Design Reviews. Will focus and work in PowerPoint, review 2D & 3D models. Emphasis on classic ANSYS as this is the key tool that will be used. The HGP engineer will heavily support root cause analysis (RCA) work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build detailed 2D and 3D finite element models of gas turbine components
- Perform thermal, structural, modal, and forced response analysis using classic ANSYS
- Conduct lifing calculations, including LCF, HCF, creep, oxidation, and fracture mechanics
- Create and analyze frequency / Campbell diagrams and modal postprocessing results
- Present technical findings and recommendations in design reviews
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and provide solutions
- Collaborate with global engineering teams and contribute to ongoing design improvements
- Review and interpret engineering drawings using GD&T, perform tolerance stack-ups
- Utilize UG/NX for design work and model evaluation
- Work within PLM / Teamcenter to manage configurations and documentation
- Prepare engineering reports, presentations, and technical documentation
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with customer requirements and engineering standards
- Apply continuous improvement mindset to drive engineering quality and efficiency
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- MUST BE A US PERSON THAT CAN VIEW EXPORT CONTROLLED MATERIAL
- Must have availability to be flexible with working hours given this is a global team. a
- At least 4 years of engineering design experience in gas turbine engines
- Prior experience supporting or leading root cause analyses (RCA)
- Classic Ansys/mechanical design experience (2+ years)
- UG/NX experience (2+ years)
- Knowledge of GD&T standards, and how to interpret engineering drawings, perform stackups, etc
- Experience using PLM or Teamcenter configuration management tools
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer satisfaction mindset, ability to work well in a team environment with a positive “can do” attitude
