Summary

Under general direction, the Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all individuals partaking in pool-related activities and in the pool area. The Lifeguard works collaboratively with staff and provides support to participants and staff as needed. They will create a safe, supportive, and positive environment for participants utilizing the pool.

Must have lifeguard certification in good standing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises recreational swimmers and individuals through proper scanning and consistent rule enforcement based on American Red Cross standards.
  • Prevents accidents and injuries.
  • Provides emergency and lifesaving interventions.
  • Delivers safe and effective instruction to class participants with varying swimming skills and abilities.
  • Organizes pool activities for individuals and groups.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience implementing recreational activities for individuals of all ages and abilities
  • Experience providing swim instruction
  • Six months of related experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, residents, and families
  • Good organizational and teaching skills
  • Must maintain confidentiality of participant records
  • Ability to meet all agency training requirements (including CPR and First Aid certifications

COMPENSATION: $21.75-$22.75 hourly + Industry Leading Benefits
