Job Description

Job DescriptionBuild meaningful connections through teaching daily living skills and independence to adults who have developmental disabilities! $15.35/hr. M-F 8a-4p. A rewarding career opportunity providing supports to groups of adults who have intellectual/developmental disabilities. Scheduling staff, Teaching, mentoring, caregiving, medical monitoring, transfers, and hygiene assistance are a few of the tasks you'll be responsible for. These supports are provided in a group day program setting. This is a positive and uplifting work environment - where you can make a difference. Consistent, full-time shifts M-F 8a-4p. Supports could include teaching people how to:

-Maintain living space, personal hygiene and balance in their day program & weekly schedules

-Participate in activities, exercise, use etiquette, improve coping skills & self esteem

-Operate household appliances

-Use community resources, understand their rights, and be safety aware

-Manage their sensory needs and maintain their own structured environment

Positions require assisting individuals with hygiene/personal care, transferring, use of gait belts, and physically supporting individuals (training provided). A comprehensive two-week paid training is provided (this is excellent paid training with certifications).

Shifts: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. steady and stable shifts

Requirements for a Life Skills Trainer:

  • High school diploma or accredited GED
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record (less than four infractions/tickets in the past three years)
  • Dependable transportation & proof of auto insurance will be required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs or ¼ of own body weight, whichever is less
  • Work experience or knowledge regarding the needs of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is beneficial, but not required
  • Other beneficial experience: CNA, CMA, Direct Care, HHA, caregiver, restorative aide, patient care, DSP, elder care, skills trainer, Medical Aide, direct support, Medical Assistant, non CNA, adult care, special education, DSW, psychology, teaching, advocacy, home supports, mental Health, human services, home health aide, Immediately Hiring.
