Controls Engineer

Position Overview
We are partnering with a major foodservice distributor and dairy manufacturer serving customers across the U.S to find a Controls Engineer. As a Controls Engineer you design and develop and be responsible for projects for the automation control system design, specification, programming, training, testing and implementation and will frequently be in a project technical management position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and programs electrical schematics, control systems software, and hardware configurations per project specifications.
  • Leads and implements maintenance and capital projects, ensuring cost control, schedule adherence, and engineering compliance.
  • Oversees automation system performance, making strategic decisions on vendors, design standards, and long-term objectives.
  • Interprets technical drawings, troubleshoots automated systems, and provides direction to maintenance and operations teams.
  • Manages resources, evaluates technician work, commissions system startups, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory codes.
  • Prepares documentation, reports, and manuals; approves requisitions; and may supervise control system hardware/software teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role with an engineering bachelor's degree.
  • Skilled in programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting PLCs, drives (AC/DC/Servo), sensors, and control devices.
  • Proficient in Rockwell Automation/Studio 5000, wiring schematics, AutoCAD, CMMS, and MS Office tools.
  • Experienced with HMI/SCADA systems, panel design, bill of materials, and performance reporting tools.
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA/EPA regulations and electromechanical maintenance standards; able to train diverse personnel.

Schedule:

Swing shift: 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM, 4 days per week.
