Position Overview
The CNC Setup and Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machinery to produce precision parts in accordance with engineering specifications. This position requires the ability to interpret technical drawings, perform accurate measurements, and ensure quality standards are consistently met. This role involves working with CNC equipment and contributing to the efficiency and accuracy of production operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes.
· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
· Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
· Perform tool changes, offsets, and minor program edits as needed to maintain part quality.
· Machine parts to specification and verify conformance using precision measuring equipment.
· Inspect and test completed parts for defects or deviations from specifications.
· Maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
· Select and prepare tools, materials, and fixtures necessary for machining operations.
· Monitor feed and speed during machining processes to ensure quality and efficiency.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all company safety policies.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining preferred.
· 2–5 years of experience operating and setting up CNC machinery.
· Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
· Strong understanding of machining principles, speeds, feeds, and tooling selection.
· Basic understanding of G-code and CNC program editing.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Haas, Fanuc, or Mazak control systems.
· Familiarity with horizontal milling, surface grinding, and band saw operation.
· Experience in a custom machinery or job shop environment.
· Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures for CNC machinery.
