Position Summary
The Part Prep Technician supports efficient production by preparing, organizing, and staging parts and materials for the assembly team. This role ensures accuracy in kitting, labeling, sorting, and verifying components while maintaining a clean and well-organized workspace. Collaborates closely with assembly staff to meet daily production goals, identifies opportunities for process improvement, and upholds high standards of quality and safety. This position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, organize, and stage parts, components, and materials needed by the assembly team to support efficient production flow.
- Read and follow part lists, work orders, and preparation instructions accurately.
- Perform basic material handling tasks, including labeling, kitting, sorting, and verifying part quantities.
- Inspect parts for defects or discrepancies and report issues promptly to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-stocked work area to ensure smooth assembly operations.
- Collaborate with assembly technicians and supervisors to meet daily production and kitting targets.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve part prep processes.
- Work primarily on day shifts to align with assembly department needs.
Skills & Qualifications
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to follow detailed kitting or preparation instructions.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and accurately.
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
- Reliable, professional, and punctual work habits.
- Positive, can-do attitude that contributes to a productive team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check within one week of receiving an offer.
- Must reside within a commutable distance to Pullman, WA, and be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in part prepping, kitting, material handling, or basic assembly.
- Familiarity with mechanical or electronic components.
- At least one year of work experience in a production, warehouse, assembly, or fast-paced customer service environment.
- Prior soldering experience.
