At Minnesota Care Counseling Services (MNCCS), we are committed to enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities through person-centered and culturally responsive support. Our Respite Services provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and young adults who require temporary care.

We are currently seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) with experience working with children and adolescents to join our dedicated respite team. This is a hands-on caregiving role that focuses on promoting independence, personal growth, and overall well-being in a supportive, home-like setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision to children with disabilities in a residential respite setting.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and eating.
  • Create a nurturing and safe space through patience, empathy, and clear communication.
  • Implement individualized service and behavior support plans tailored to each child’s unique needs.
  • Engage clients in age-appropriate recreational and community-based activities to foster skill-building and social integration.
  • Maintain detailed and timely documentation of daily activities, incidents, and client progress while complying with HIPAA and 245D licensing standards.
  • Collaborate with families, clinical professionals, and other team members to ensure consistent and holistic care.
  • Support with mobility needs and physical transfers as required.


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or youth with disabilities, especially those on the autism spectrum, is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, positive behavior supports, and developmental disabilities.
  • Flexibility to work across two locations (Bloomington & Maple Grove).
  • Ability to lift and assist with mobility as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or within a team.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor essential to supporting diverse client needs.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Must pass DHS background study and meet all 245D licensing requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
