Job Title: EHR/HIM Specialist
Location: Grand Forks, ND
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary: Rural Psychiatry Associates is seeking a detail-oriented and solutions-driven professional to serve as our EHR/HIM Specialist. This essential role is the primary point of contact for all EHR-related issues, including troubleshooting, user support, and implementation of new systems. The EHR/HIM Specialist will ensure optimal performance of our EHR platform and provide backup support to the current Health Information Management (HIM) staff. The ideal candidate will have strong technical proficiency, excellent problem-solving skills, and a working knowledge of healthcare compliance and documentation standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Serve as the go-to resource for all EHR questions, issues, and support requests
• Troubleshoot and resolve system errors, workflow issues, and user access concerns in a timely manner
• Assist in the planning, configuration, and implementation of new EHR systems or upgrades
• Provide user training and support to clinical and administrative staff
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure EHR functionality aligns with organizational needs • Track and document EHR-related issues, resolutions, and improvements
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies related to health information management
• Support HIM functions, including chart audits, release of information, and documentation requests
• Serve as a backup to the current HIM employee and assist during high-volume periods or absences
Qualifications:
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a related field preferred
• Experience with Electronic Health Record systems
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards
• Strong technical troubleshooting and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities
• Previous experience supporting clinical teams in a healthcare setting is a plus
