We are currently looking for a passionate Research Technician to join our BioMonitoring R&D Team in Bellevue, WA. In this role, you will play a crucial part in expanding our food pathogen diagnostics portfolio, supporting development projects, and contributing to our BioMonitoring strategy. responsibilities:
- Assist scientists with food study research, including performing background research and general lab maintenance.
- Conduct PCR/qPCR and aseptic technique procedures.
- Work in a BSL-2 lab environment while wearing PPE at all times.
- Handle food bacterial pathogens (must be comfortable working with food-related microbes).
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
qualifications:
Required:
- BA/BS in Life Sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Microbiology) with 1-3 years of lab-based Life Science and molecular biology experience
- Experience and ability to work in a team based BSLII laboratory environment
- Experience with PCR
- Experience with bacterial pathogens or pathogen detection
Preferred:
- Microbiology techniques including but not limited to culture media preparation, culture preparation and propagation, and culture identification
- Extensive practice in aseptic technique
- Experience in experimental planning, data interpretation, and proposing next steps to the management
- Experience and ability to work in a food microbiology and diagnostics environment
- Experience with microbiological environmental monitoring
- Experience in other immunological assays
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience in Good Documentation Practices within a research environment
