Position Summary

The Planning and Scheduling Engineer drives plant reliability by developing and executing best-in-class maintenance job plans, schedules, and work coordination. This role anticipates delays, aligns labor and materials, and ensures maintenance activities support maximum equipment uptime and long-term asset health. The position also champions proactive reliability culture, leverages CMMS data to improve performance, and supports compliance, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion proactive reliability and continuous improvement across maintenance operations.
  • Develop, plan, and schedule maintenance work using CMMS best practices.
  • Analyze backlog, labor requirements, and KPIs to optimize maintenance effectiveness.
  • Create detailed job plans that enhance equipment life expectancy and reduce costs.
  • Lead weekly maintenance scheduling meetings and coordinate cross-functional activities.
  • Support equipment history, root cause analysis, EMP improvements, and recordkeeping.
  • Audit maintenance documentation and communicate improvement needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide backup support within the department as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).
  • 3+ years of planning & scheduling experience in a large-scale, continuous industrial environment (preferred).
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices for major processing equipment (evaporators, heat exchangers, centrifuges, pumps, boilers, instrumentation, etc.).
  • CMMS power-user experience and strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Project engineering/management experience and formal planning/scheduling training preferred.
  • Must have authorization to work in the U.S. (non-student, non-third-party sponsored).

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong planning & scheduling expertise with a detail-oriented, analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance and reliability methodologies.
  • Understanding of OSHA/EPA regulations related to manufacturing environments.
