Job Description: Engineering Technician (Systems Group)
Position Summary
Air Power, Inc. is seeking an experienced full-time Engineering Technician. Work with Systems Engineer and Specialists to understand project scope. This position’s primary function is to assist, analyze and develop user requirements, procedures, schematics, design, and functional specifications for systems. Interact with coworkers from all levels of the organization in cross-functional teams to ensure Systems projects are completed in the proper way. Systems, as pertains to this document can be defined as booths, duct work, air make up units, staged wash systems, conveyors, and ovens. Travel to customer sites to install equipment and work diligently to maintain established timeline and budget are also key responsibilities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide Pre-Sale Support to System Specialist including but not limited to the following:
- Project design review and development
- Onsite project review / sales process support
- Provide Post Sale Support for Systems Projects including but not limited to the following:
- Attend and engage with all booth/systems Project Kick off meetings
- Technical Project Management of Systems - with scheduling, approval drawings and required documentation for each project
- Develop good working relationships with sub-contractors to manage effectively
- Develop and implement a checklist for Systems projects to ensure efficiency and success
- Manage (Onsite/remote) Contractor’s schedule and progress through the entirety of the project in coordination with Account Manager, Project Coordinator, Specialist and Customer
- Ensure or provide training, start-up and customer acceptance of Systems projects
- Develop future support for Field Service Technicians with troubleshooting
- Crosstrain in other disciplines of the organization, as time allows and as needed
- Comply with Company safety protocol, learn correct operation & safety features of all tools & accessories
- Provide progress updates of install during process
- Participate in lessons learned meetings as required
- Report on hours and expenditures for project financials
Qualifications:
- Must have a good attitude with proven mechanical ability (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical backgrounds are a plus)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- Problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to travel to support customer needs
- Working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Power point)
- 3+years of experience in a Manufacturing environment preferred
- 3+years of experience in a plant maintenance-type role preferred
- Commercial HVAC experience preferred
- Electrical experience preferred
- Experience with Gas burners preferred
- Experience reading electrical schematics
- Experience Diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems, including electrical and mechanical faults, and replacing faulty components.
- Experience Identifying and resolving problems with HVAC systems, using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge.
