Psomagen, Inc. is a fast-growing biotechnology company with a focus on DNA sequencing. We are currently searching for a motivated Lab Technician who is able to work full-time at our branch in Cambridge (MA). It is the responsibility of the laboratory technician to perform routine tests using laboratory equipment. Paid training will be provided but the job requires knowledge of basic science to learn techniques/methods. It is important that the technician also understands the role of senior lab members and is able to accept constructive guidance.
This role will be based in our lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts.Initial training is expected to take place at our Rockville, MD headquarters for approximately 2–3 months. However, training location may be subject to change depending on operational needs.Additionally, candidates should be open to potential relocation between our MD and MA locations if required by the business.
Responsibilities
- Operating a computer-based laboratory system, recording data, and performing laboratory tests. Experimental procedures include: molecular biology techniques such as bacteria cell cultures, isolation of DNA, gel electrophoresis, and PCR. Duties involve much micro pipetting and meticulous measuring
- Interacting with customers to provide information in response to inquiries, concerns, and requests about services and analysis results
- Preparing solution, reagents, and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures
- Monitoring equipment performance and maintenance schedules. May perform routine repair or replacement of standard parts
- Monitoring inventory levels and orders material and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Occasionally weekend work
- Nighttime shift
Qualifications & Preference
- Bachelor’s degree required. Biology majors or relevant majors are preferred
- Organized and keen attention to details
- Bilingual in English + Korean a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain seated or stand for extended durations
- Must be capable of frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving lab equipment and inventory
- Frequent use of the wrists, hands, and fingers is necessary
- Requires excellent visual clarity for tasks such as pipetting, working on a computer, and preparing and analyzing data and charts
