Job Summary: The Associate Principal Scientist will lead seasoning development across multiple brands and products on the R&D Seasonings & Flavor team, with opportunities to work on consumer-loved brands including Client Products. The role includes flavor strategy research and ideation, culinary and seasoning development, vendor partnerships, seasoning processing and scale-up, and specification management. This position supports the Client+ agenda, driving strategic planning and innovation to expand the portfolio with products that are better for people and the planet.
Key Responsibilities: • Lead seasoning and flavor innovation from idea inception through product commercialization across multiple brands. • Collaborate with R&D and cross-functional business partners to develop and launch product innovations and renovations. • Work with external suppliers and vendors to identify new technologies, lead seasoning design, and commercialize new ingredients. • Provide technical and business risk assessments related to new product development and strategic R&D goals. • Apply scientific and experimental design principles to solve technical problems and create robust seasoning designs. • Leverage internal and external experts for analytical and sensory research. • Willingness to travel, typically up to 40%.
Required Qualifications: • BS / MS / PhD in Food Science, Chemistry, Ingredient Science, or Chemical Engineering. • BS + 8 years, MS + 4 years, or PhD + 2 years of experience in R&D or manufacturing/production in food, seasoning, flavors, ingredients, or CPG industry. • Ability to translate business objectives into strategic and tactical project goals. • Strong communication and collaboration skills with proven cross-functional influence. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results. • Experience with seasoning system setup, operation, quality control, and troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in product or process development, seasoning and flavor, ingredient science, or culinary.
