Job Description

The function of Metrology Personnel is to ensure that all measuring equipment used for product inspection and acceptance performs to an established minimum standard and tolerance. Metrology personnel receive authority from and report to the Quality Manager/Quality Supervisor and exercises authority over no other employee.

Specific duties of Metrology personnel include but are not limited to:

1. Identify all company measuring equipment by applying a unique number to each unit.

2. Calibrate all measuring equipment, used to inspect Benoit products, on a scheduled basis.

3. Clean and lubricate measuring equipment at the time of calibration.

4. Affix calibration status decals on all measuring equipment after calibration.

5. Perform and document a Receiving Inspection and initial calibration on any new measuring equipment prior to use.

6. Perform and document receiving inspection on all threading inserts prior to use.

7. Maintain master gages and reference standards in such a manner to avoid deterioration or damage.

8. Maintain a clean, neat, well-equipped calibration lab.

9. Maintain clear, legible records to substantiate calibration activities for each piece of measuring equipment.

10. Alert the Quality Manager/Quality Supervisor to any potential problems which may arise due to faulty or nonconforming measuring equipment.

11. Perform any dimensional inspections assigned by the Quality Manager/Quality Supervisor.
