Seeking a staff engineering-geologist with 2-4 years of experience and technical knowledge of the principals of geotechnical and engineering geology. Position offers the opportunity to work on residential and commercial projects in the Los Angeles County and Malibu coastal region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to manage multiple projects, contracts and clients concurrently.
Interpret subsurface and laboratory data, coordinate and prepare soils and engineering geologic investigation reports. Field activities include geologic mapping, field logging, and soil sampling. Ability to review and evaluate grading and building plans
Familiarity with soil laboratory testing/rock mechanics and perform engineering analysis for foundation design parameters, seismic analysis, retaining walls and piles, static & seismic slope stability analysis .
Preparation of typical geotechnical (soils and geology) engineering reports for submittal to governing agencies with construction recommendations for earth design parameters, site preparation, excavations, shoring, retaining walls, slabs, drainage, etc.
Perform construction observation services observations for job sites including documentation and site safety.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in geology.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for interactions with clients, agency inspectors, contractors, developers and engineering professionals.
Motivated self-starter with desire to manage project deadlines
Positive attitude, organizational skills and collaborative approach to problem solving
Work conditions:
The position is a mix of field assignments and office duties. The field activities require the ability to drive to different project sites with varying site conditions. The office environment is casual and flexible. Reliable transportation and a valid CA driver’s license are required.
