American Plastics is a privately owned injected molded plastics company that designs and manufactures workhorse items in the United States, utilizing green processes and superior engineering. American Plastics is a growing company, with production and distribution footprints in Missouri, Ohio, Arizona, North and South Carolina.
The Corporate Quality Manager is responsible for the initiation, improvement and evaluation of product quality and product compliance in support of the corporate strategy of American Plastics, LLC across multiple locations in North America. This position will report to the Vice President of Quality and reside in the Innovation Center, Findlay, OH.
•Quality: Ensures that American Plastics products meet the customer’s expectations while complying with regulatory requirements for quality and safety.
•Quality Management System (QMS): Focused on improving the effectiveness of the critical business processes associated with the quality vision utilizing quality planning, quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement activities.
•Product Security: Implement, improve, and evaluate existing finished good or development products according to AP and customer proprietary requirements.
•Compliance: Manage, mitigate risks, and protect the ethical integrity of American Plastics, through the implementation of policies and strict adherence to established requirements.
Responsibilities:
Foster an end user centric environment ensuring American Plastics meets customer and stakeholder’s expectation by taking the necessary steps to drive satisfaction. Responsible for executing the quality system across multiple locations in North America.
•Enforce a quality system that is compliant with any relevant industry standards or other specified requirements.
•Generate any deliverable or required process output through vigilant monitoring of customer feedback to introduce continuous improvement.
•Document and report any pertinent performance metrics necessary to exploit business opportunity when presented.
•Identify, manage resources for, and initiate actions needed to improve product quality or reduce product cost wherever possible.
•Lead cross-functional teams to implement FMEA, Quality control plans, 8D, Risk Assessment, and lessons learned to drive down the total cost of quality.
•Train AP personnel with regards to procedures, instructions, and quality tools to enhance corporate quality philosophy.
•Monitor enterprise-wide quality control activities to ensure company’s products comply with American Plastics and customer quality standards.
•Assemble pertinent information necessary for customer communication, supplier performance reviews, or non-conformance root cause analysis to ensure full product compliance.
The Corporate Quality Manager Has The Authority:
•To apply the required tools as needed to manage and actualize the written Quality Management System.
•To independently take the necessary actions to ensure that the management system will achieve full company-wide compliance.
•To develop Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Job Aids, or any other document or process elements needed to standardize practices throughout the organization.
Requirements:
Desired Education and Qualifications:
•A bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (required) with a master’s degree in business administration (preferred).
•8-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with direct quality leadership and reporting responsibilities.
•Experience with data analysis including typical Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
•Plastics material and product testing to include instruments such as a Spectrophotometer (X-Rite or equivalent), Universal Test Machine (Flexural Modulus, Tensile, Product/Component performance characteristics), IZOD, FTIR, Melt Flow Index, as well as having a thorough understanding of applicable ASTM’s recognized as benchmark test methods within the plastic manufacturing industry.
•Strong leadership and communication skills including writing, presentation, influencing, and negotiation skills.
•Demonstrated ability to think critically and provide strategic insight and analysis to solve problems and make improvements.
•Ability to lead and provide guidance to multiple projects simultaneously.
•Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and lead a team of quality professionals in support of corporate goals.
•Deploy a Quality Management System to all levels of the business.
•Maintain and document product quality inspection and testing requirements.
•Any other duty as assigned by management.
