Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Office Assistant to join our busy dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative and clinical support, ensuring smooth daily operations and a positive patient experience. This role involves managing patient records, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and assisting with clinical documentation. Candidates with dental office experience, strong computer skills, and knowledge of medical and dental terminology will excel in this position. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve our diverse patient community.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients professionally at the front desk and manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Open Dental
- Prepare and review patient documentation, ensuring accuracy in medical records and billing information
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes, including intake procedures and data entry using Open Dental
- Collect payments, and perform collections as needed
- Maintain organized filing systems for dental records, insurance forms, and other documentation
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Manage office supplies inventory and perform general clerical duties including data entry, typing, filing, and scanning documents
Requirements
- Prior experience in a dental or medical office environment is highly preferred; clinic or hospital experience is a plus
- Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Open Detal
- Knowledge of dental terminology, and insurance verification processes
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with health information management systems
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and record keeping
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
- Strong customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette for front desk operations
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
