ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements processes for new and existing products to balance cost and quality as it is directly related to the Press department. Responsibilities include process and industrial engineering, production standards, tooling and equipment procurement, performance improvement, waste reduction, and troubleshooting within the department. This role also leads continuous improvement initiatives by applying lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Lead APQP team in the development of new part opportunities and major engineering changes from concept through capable production process.
• Interact with customer’s base and provide manufacturing expertise with respect to part conversions.
• Continually evaluate alternatives leading to the development and implementation of manufacturing processes on new and existing products to achieve an optimum relationship between cost and quality.
• Responsible for work center design and product/process flow including ergonomic considerations, lean manufacturing technology, mechanical design, electrical component usage & system logic, changeover ease, etc. to optimize the manufacturing process.
• Coordinate activities in scrap reduction, elimination of rework, material variances, labor variances, safety & ergonomic evaluations, and overall continuous improvement in assigned areas.
• Plan, justify, execute, and monitor Capital programs as assigned. This includes budgeted capital projects, new equipment, molds & dies, fixtures, etc.
• Develop and maintain all production routings, work measurement standards, manufacturing set-up and work instructions, work center descriptions, etc. for operations in assigned areas.(Microsoft products/databases)
• Troubleshoot processes in the Press department and address escalated concerns via the engineering work request and ECN systems.
• Lead or provide support related to NCMR's and/or corrective actions and initiate and/or approve deviations as needed.
• Lead/support other projects as defined.

• Powdered Metal Pressing and Tooling Knowledge.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T and its application.
• Knowledge of automation and part handling designs, and electrical interface systems.
• Possesses working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and CAM software (Mastercam/Surfcam/Esprit) with the ability to apply those skills.
