Brewery Automation Maintenance Specialist
Job Description
Job DescriptionJoin a state-of-the-art brewery in Columbia, SC
Step into our brand-new, highly automated facility and keep the heart of Mark Anthony Brewing running. As a Brewery Automation Maintenance Specialist, you’ll own the daily performance of cutting-edge brewing and packaging systems while keeping Safety and Quality front and center for yourself and your teammates.
A day in the life
Your shift starts with PPE on and a quick review of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to line up preventive maintenance and priority work orders. You’ll walk the lines with Operations, Quality, and Logistics, ensuring we’re aligned on production goals and that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are being followed. From there, you might:
- Diagnose and resolve faults on conveyors, fillers, and packaging equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Execute predictive and preventative maintenance tasks that protect uptime and extend asset life.
- Use your fabrication skills—cutting and welding (MIG/TIG/Stick)—to restore or improve components.
- Work safely around electrical systems including 480VAC and 24VDC, using schematics and P&IDs to guide repairs.
- Repair and tune variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, PLC input/output cards, safety modules, and communication networks.
- Support installations and upgrades as we scale capacity and capability.
Throughout the day you document work performed, parts used, and observations, ensuring work orders and PM records are complete before you leave. You’ll communicate clearly at shift handoff—status, risks, open items—and escalate issues to your supervisor related to safety, quality, performance, productivity, continuous improvement, and team harmony. You’ll also lend your expertise to write or update SOPs and coach production teams on basic operation and routine care tasks.
What you’ll impact
- Safety / Food Safety: Always follow plant safety policies, wear required PPE, and uphold GMPs. Verify equipment meets safety standards.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate maintenance without disrupting output; keep cross-functional partners informed.
- Inventory Management: Locate parts in CMMS, record consumption per inventory control guidelines, and optimize tools and resources.
- Process Improvement: Partner with leadership to deliver continuous improvement projects, equipment/facility upgrades, and permanent corrective actions for recurring issues. Perform other duties as needed.
Skills & experiences that set you up to win
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree/certification in a technical field preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years in industrial maintenance within high-speed manufacturing; beverage or packaging strongly preferred.
- Technical toolkit: Skilled with hand/power tools, welders, lifts, multimeters, and industrial shop equipment; forklift experience a plus (no certification required).
- Digital fluency: Comfortable with MS Office (Word, Excel, email) and CMMS.
- Core proficiencies: PLC, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting; hydraulics; PLC programming; strong manufacturing floor experience.
- Machines & tech you’ll use: VFDs; PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens); conveyor systems; servo motors.

- Reliable and punctual; follows attendance and absenteeism policies.
- Thrives in a fast-paced setting; prioritizes and multitasks well.

- Adhere to GMPs at all times.
