The Opportunity
Custom Manufacturing and Engineering, Inc. (CME) is seeking a Production Planner who loves details, builds clean production schedules, and keeps manufacturing processes aligned. In this role, you will develop and manage production plans for multiple electrical and electronic products, balancing cost, schedule, part availability, and labor capacity. You will own the day-to-day ERP and MRP production planning process and help advance shop floor control, product data management, forecasting, demand planning, and inventory management to ensure orders are delivered on time.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain production schedules that establish routings and lead time for each operation to meet customer ship dates.
- Release, process, and manage customer orders and work orders to support smooth material flow and efficient build execution.
- Review material tracking and delivery status, communicate risks early, and adjust schedules to protect delivery commitments.
- Maintain inventory levels that support production while maximizing inventory turns.
- Be a leader in the SIOP process and act as a liaison between Manufacturing, Operations, Finance and Sales to proactively plan and set priorities to achieve customer delivery commitments and revenue goals.
- Support master scheduling, BOM accuracy, and routing integrity within the ERP system.
- Expedite materials and coordinate with purchasing as needed to resolve shortages and prevent schedule slips.

- Maintain planning records and related documents in support of programs, goals, and compliance requirements.
- Support engineering and manufacturing design changes and ensure implementation is accurately executed on the production floor.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen planning discipline, shop floor control, and schedule adherence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment producing electrical or electronic assemblies.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing planning tools such as Deltek Costpoint ERP, MRP, master scheduling, ATP, and bills of material.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, part lists and BOMs with familiarity across electrical, electronic, or mechanical build requirements.
- Strong understanding of material identities, part relationships, production systems, and how to resolve supply chain problems.
- Solid knowledge of inventory management programs and systems with experience physically and systematically reconciling inventory discrepancies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including confidence working across diverse teams.
- Strong customer service mindset and a solutions first approach.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Predictive Index assessment, reference, credit, and drug testing required.
Minimum Requirements Needed
- BS or BA in Business or Operations Management or related field preferred. Bonus points for APICS certification.
- Positions with CME require access to controlled goods and technologies subject to ITAR or EAR. Applicants must meet U.S. Person requirements, meaning a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
