Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time

Position Summary

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives. This position involves providing care, advocacy, and skill-building to help individuals participate in their communities, achieve personal goals, and maintain health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision to individuals in accordance with their Individualized Service Plans (ISP).

  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, meals, and mobility support.

  • Support individuals in developing social, communication, and independent living skills.

  • Administer medications and follow medical or behavioral protocols as directed.

  • Transport individuals safely to appointments, community outings, and work/educational programs.

  • Document services provided, progress notes, incident reports, and other required records accurately and timely.

  • Promote dignity, respect, and inclusion in all aspects of care and support.

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow crisis intervention procedures when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with acceptable driving record (if driving responsibilities are required).

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and any other requirements per the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD).

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within required timeframe).

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred but not required—training will be provided.
