Job Title: Commercial Lead HVAC Service Technician

We are seeking a reliable, licensed professional with a required Connecticut S-2 or D-2 license to manage advanced diagnostics and repairs on commercial equipment (e.g., chillers, boilers, RTUs). In your role as the Commercial Lead HVAC Service Technician, you will be the senior technical authority for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large-scale commercial heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. You will lead by example in the field, ensuring all service work is code-compliant and maintains critical operations for our business clients.
Responsibilities and Expectations

Lead and execute advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on complex commercial HVAC equipment (5+ tons), including chillers, boilers, VRF systems, air handlers, and roof-top units (RTUs).

Act as the senior technical resource for the commercial service team, providing expert guidance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship to junior technicians.

Interpret and work from commercial blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure compliant and effective repairs.

Ensure all service work adheres strictly to local codes, EPA regulations (especially Section 608 for refrigerants), manufacturer specifications, and safety standards.

Provide professional and clear communication to facility managers, building owners, and engineers regarding system status, complex repair options, and system efficiency recommendations.

Utilize company-provided iPad and smartphone for efficient service documentation, time tracking, digital reporting, and professional communication.

Ensure the company vehicle is fully stocked, organized, and properly maintained for complex commercial needs.
Requirements

Required: 3-5 years of experience in Commercial HVAC service and repair.

S-2 (Unlimited Heating, Piping & Cooling) or D-2 (Limited Warm Air, A/C, and Refrigeration) License is REQUIRED.

Demonstrated experience in taking ownership of commercial jobs, performing high-level diagnostics, and leadership or mentoring.

Strong technical knowledge of commercial-grade HVAC systems, electrical schematics, controls (DDC), and refrigeration principles.

Must hold a current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification for refrigerant handling.

Proficiency with technology, including using an iPad and company smartphone for daily job management.

Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.

The compensation for this position is expected to range between $30.00 - $45.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, licensing, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate's skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.
