Job Description
The High School Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes. This role works closely with coaches, physicians, and school staff to ensure the health and safety of all student-athletes during practices, games, and other athletic events.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide on-site injury evaluation and emergency care during practices and games

Develop and implement injury prevention programs including taping, bracing, and conditioning

Administer first aid and CPR when necessary

Create and maintain treatment and rehabilitation plans

Maintain detailed medical records for all student-athletes per HIPAA/FERPA standards

Coordinate referrals to physicians or other healthcare professionals as needed

Communicate with coaches, parents, and school officials regarding injury status and return-to-play protocols

Ensure compliance with state athletic regulations and school district policies

Oversee and manage the athletic training room, supplies, and equipment

Attend all home athletic events and travel to select away games as needed

Assist with pre-participation physical screenings and ensure athletes are medically cleared

Educate athletes on nutrition, hydration, and injury prevention best practices
Qualifications:

Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia

Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the athletic schedule

Experience working with adolescent athletes is preferred
