Job Title: Barn Manager
Location: Cecil Township, PA
Position Type: Full Time (live-on, residential)
Compensation & Benefits: Salary: $65,000 to $100,000 commensurate with experience, plus housing (on-site), and other perks for the manager and their family.

We are a vertically integrated poultry farm focusing on high-egg production using ISA Brown hens and ducks. Our mission is to maintain high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, and operational excellence. We aim to hire a Barn Manager who is experienced, reliable, and passionate about poultry.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As Barn Manager you will be the primary caretaker and overseer of the ISA Brown layer flock. Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Flock Management & Bird Health
- Oversee the daily care, feeding, watering, and monitoring of the ISA Brown hens (laying flock) & ducks.
- Monitor egg production, quality, and set goals/benchmarks
- Maintain health and welfare standards; detect and manage disease, parasites, and stress
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocols
- Coordinate with a veterinarian for routine and emergency care
Nutrition & Feed
- Plan and manage feed formulations, and feeding schedules
- Monitor feed usage, waste, and optimize feed efficiency
- Maintain inventory of feed, supplements, grit, and related supplies
Egg Handling & Facility Operations
- Oversee egg collection, handling, washing, grading, storage, and turnover
- Ensure egg hygiene, cracking minimization, and quality control
- Maintain clean egg houses, nest boxes, and equipment
- Manage ventilation systems, lighting schedules, heating/cooling, and environmental controls
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and biosecurity protocols
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
- Inspect and maintain barn infrastructure.
- Regularly perform maintenance (or coordinate repairs) of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems
- Manage waste removal (litter, manure) and disposal in compliance with regulations
- Oversee pest and rodent control around barns and storage areas
- Maintain records of maintenance, repair, and capital replacement schedules
Staff & Team Management
- Hire, train, supervise, mentor and schedule barn staff and assistants
- Delegate daily tasks (feeding, egg collection, cleaning, maintenance) and ensure accountability
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment; enforce safety policies
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage time-off requests
Qualifications & Skills
- Demonstrated experience managing laying hen flocks (especially ISA Browns or similar high-production layers)
- Knowledge of poultry health, nutrition, and husbandry
- Experience with egg production systems, farm equipment, and poultry facility management
- Ability to lift ~50 lbs., work outdoors in various weather, climb, bend, and perform physical labor
- Leadership ability; experience supervising staff
- Willingness to live on site and work flexible hours (early mornings, weekends, emergencies)
- Valid driver’s license
