Summary of Position:

The Maintenance Group Leader is responsible for the supervision and control of the maintenance team. This position is directly responsible for the formulation, administration and coordination of all maintenance projects, policies, processes, methods and procedures designed to improve and maintain operating performance, reducing waste and delays. Also responsible for developing, administering and promoting cost reductions on a company-wide basis. Support new product start-up and launches.

This position will apply both electrical and mechanical related knowledge to test, diagnose, maintain, repair and modify developmental or operational machinery and control equipment and circuitry in facility. Work requires an in-depth knowledge of various trades such as welding, electrical, and machinery. Performs a wide variety of electrical, electronic maintenance and mechanical service work on sophisticated electronic equipment, machines and/or controls. Diagnoses and remedies troubles, repairs and replaces equipment. Installs, maintains, and/or repairs equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction, development and leadership to maintenance associates
  • Inspects and checks equipment for proper operating condition, makes necessary adjustments, logs test readings, and maintains, repairs, or replaces all essential equipment parts
  • Read blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical/electrical diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly. Prepare sketches as needed.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates, and metalworking machines
  • Repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications and tolerances
  • Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing
  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery, equipment, housings, jigs, fittings, fixtures and measuring instruments
  • Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications
  • Consult with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
  • Research, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems
  • Maintain system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve or reduce costs for product, processes, using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
  • Activities involve using time-study or standard data for a variety of machine, assembly and hand operations, production methods, equipment layout, material handling, and manpower, equipment and material utilization in order to improve operating performance
  • Identify root cause determination of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods
  • Train production personnel in new or existing methods manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes
  • Investigate or resolve operational problems such as material use variances and bottlenecks
  • Estimate costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new designs
  • Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Design layout of equipment or work spaces to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status
  • Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control.
  • Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts
  • Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects
  • Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Supports other shifts maintenance issues

Education:

  • High school diploma
  • Associate level college degree in manufacturing industry preferred

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years proven maintenance team leader experience
  • Minimum of 5 years Industrial Maintenance experience

Technical/ Computer Skills:

  • Strong skills with installation and maintenance work on industrial plant systems and equipment
  • Broad knowledge of controls and mechanisms
  • Proficient in Ladder Logic and troubleshooting
  • Remote I/O design and operation experience
  • Robot programming and troubleshooting
  • AC/DC drive motor operation, adjustment, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to understand how to read and comprehend hydraulic and electrical prints
  • Broad knowledge of OSHA and workplace environmental, health, and safety programs
  • Basic knowledge of current NEC, NFPA,code compliance
  • Minimum familiarity of basic Ethernet networking components
  • Urethane foam experience preferred
  • Must be proficient with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience with SAP is preferred
